IMPROVED INSTRUCTIONS AND INSTALLATION HARDWARE FOR ACCENT CONSOLE ARMREST
This TSB contains updated instructions for the Accent Console Armrest, Installation Kit # 00225-A5700.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURES:
1. Remove HYUNDAI Accent console armrest from box. Discard instructions and hardware included with armrest
2. Place armrest on a protective work area to prevent scratching or damaging the surface of the armrest.
3. Open lid to the storage area.
4. Remove and save the three screws securing storage tray.
5. Pull storage tray out of the console armrest.
6. Remove and discard the four (4) screws located under the storage tray and pull the upper portion of the console armrest apart from the lower portion.
7. In vehicle, remove and discard the two rear screws from the factory center console.
8. Lift the rear of the console up approximately 2" and remove and discard the two existing U-type fasteners from the support bracket on the vehicle floor.
NOTE:
Be careful not to lift the console too high or you may damage the front locating fasteners or the securing latch.
9. Install U-type nut retainers provided in the Installation kit # 00225- A5700 on each end of the support bracket.
10. Replace center console onto the vehicle floor.
11. Place the lower portion of the console armrest on top of the center console.
12. Align the rear mounting holes of the lower portion of the armrest with mounting holes on center console.
13. Place a 10-24 x 1" screw through each mounting hole and tighten into the U-type nut retainers.
NOTE:
Removal of console rear ashtray may be helpful to align screws properly.
14. Push the lower portion of the armrest forward and down.
15. Mark the two side mounting holes and the four holes on top of the lower portion of the armrest onto the center console.
16. Remove and save the 10-24 x 1" screws previously installed and remove the lower portion of the armrest from the center console.
17. Drill a 1/8" pilot hole in each of the six marked locations.
18. Drill a 17/64" hole in each of the six locations.
19. Push a knurled threaded insert into each of the six holes.
20. Using HMA installation tool, Part # 00225-A5710, mount the inserts. NOTE: directions provided with the tool to complete the mounting.
NOTE:
Tool will be supplied with Parts Bulletin # 0939. Replacement tool pieces are available at the PDO.
21. Replace upper portion of the console armrest onto the lower portion of the console armrest.
22. Place a red nylon spacer around each of the two rear (as console would be located in vehicle) screws protruding from the underside of the console armrest.
23. Place a white nylon spacer around each of the two remaining front screws on the underside of the console armrest.
24. Place armrest assembly over center console and align the four inserts on the console with the four screws on the console armrest making certain the four spacers remain on the screws.
25. Tighten the 8-32 x 1-1/4 screws into the inserts by tightening each screw a little at a time in rotation to properly align the armrest to the console.
26. Place two 8-32 x 1-1/4 screws into each side of the console armrest with the knurled inserts and tighten securely.
27. Insert a 10-24 x 1" screw through each of the rear lower mounting holes in the center console armrest and tighten into the U-type nut retainers.
28. Place storage tray into console armrest.
29. Replace three screws (longer screws to the rear) in the storage tray and tighten.
NOTE:
For additional parts information, refer to Parts Bulletin # 0939.
