DESCRIPTION:




Table 1 lists "family" identification of the exterior plastic components, used on 1994 vehicles. This list is only a guide, and changes may occur.

CAUTION:
Always verify the plastic type by reading the symbol marked on the components.




If the component to be painted is not listed in the table, locate the plastic "family" symbol marked on the part. This symbol will be located so it can be easily seen on the removed part.

EXAMPLES OF SYMBOLS IN USE

PA 66 - GF 30 (Glass filled PA 66)
PC + PBT (Blend of PC and PB
PA 6/12 (Copolymer of PA 6 and PA 12)


The two major components of multi-phase materials will be marked as above. Blends are separated by "+", copolymers by "/".

When a part is made up of components which are not readily disassembled, the plastics types for the components will be marked on one of the components where they can be read when the part is removed from the vehicle.

EXAMPLE:

Cover > PMMA <
Housing > ABS <

The painting procedure for the plastic components will depend on the brand of paint you are using. See your paint representative for details. Examples of the type of instructions you should expect for painting plastic components are given in TSB 94-99-003.
