GUIDELINES FOR TOWING AN ACCENT
BEHIND A RECREATIONAL VEHICLE

DESCRIPTION:

This bulletin provides guidelines for towing an Accent with all four wheels on the ground, behind another vehicle (Recreational Vehicle Towing).

GUIDELINES:

^ An automatic transaxle equipped Accent must NOT be towed with all four wheels on the ground behind another vehicle for recreational vehicle towing purposes. Towing an Accent equipped with an automatic transaxle in this manner may seriously damage the vehicle transaxle.

^ Towing a manual transaxle equipped Accent with all four wheels on the ground behind another vehicle, such as a Recreational Vehicle (RV), is allowed if the following six (6) conditions are met:

1. Transaxle oil is at the recommended level.

2. Transaxle is in correct working order.

3. The parking brake is released.

4. The gearshift is in NEUTRAL.

5. The steering wheel is UNLOCKED with the key in the ignition and in the "ACC" position.

NOTE:
When you leave the key in the "ACC" position, make sure all accessories are turned off to prevent battery drain.

WARNING:
WHEN TOWING HAS BEEN COMPLETED, BE SURE TO TURN THE KEY OFF, REMOVE IT FROM THE IGNITION, AND SET THE PARKING BRAKE. DO NOT LEAVE THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION WITH THE VEHICLE UNATTENDED.

6. The vehicle is towed from the front with all four wheels on the ground.

NOTE:
Emergency and disabled vehicle towing procedures are provided in the Accent Owner's Manual.
