Campaign - ECM Wiring Harness Rerouting

DATE: March, 1995

GROUP: Campaign

NUMBER: 95-01-003

MODEL: 1995 Accent (manual transaxle only)

SUBJECT:
1995 Accent ECM Wiring Harness Routing (25)

INSPECTION/REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Using a flashlight, look under the instrument panel towards the clutch pedal pivot.

2. Inspect the area between the clutch pedal lever height adjuster bracket and ECM (see photo below). Verify the bracket does not contact the ECM wiring harness as the pedal is depressed and released. The minimum clearance between the bracket and ECM harness should be 3/8" (10 mm).

NOTE:
If the bracket has contacted the ECM harness and abrasion or damage to the ECM harness insulation has occurred, repair the insulation prior to proceeding to Step 3.

3. If the ECM harness is closer than 3/8" (10 mm) to the clutch lever height adjuster bracket during any point of clutch pedal travel, the ECM harness should be moved away from the bracket, and routed over the top of the ECM. The harness retainer should then be bent towards the ECM case to secure the harness.

4. Place a punch mark over the 16th digit on the VIN plate located on the driver's door to indicate that this campaign has been completed.

NOTE:
Always check for a VIN plate punch mark before performing this campaign procedure.
