Turn Signal Indicator Does Not Cancel
CONDITION:
The turn signal lever does not return to the middle position, and the turn signal indicator continues to flash after completing a left or right turn. This condition may be the result of the white nylon signal cancelling lever arm sticking in the "down" or "up" position, and not returning to its center position.
CORRECTION:
The following procedure describes shimming the Lighting and Turn Signal Switch assembly cover plate to eliminate possible lever arm interference.
1. Record all radio preset stations.
2. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. Wait 30 seconds for the SRS system to discharge before proceeding.
Steering Column:
3. Remove the three screws (see illustration) securing the steering column shroud to the column. Separate and remove the upper and lower shrouds.
Turn Signal Switch:
4. Remove the two screws holding the Lighting and Turn Signal Switch assembly to the multifunction switch body.
5. Remove the Lighting and Turn Signal Switch assembly from the multi-function switch assembly. Do not disconnect the switch harness.
Turn Signal Switch:
6. Note the four screws on the cover plate of the Lighting and Turn Signal Switch. Loosen the two inboard screws approximately three turns.
7. Insert one "C" clip (P/N 14611-03003) underneath each of the two loosened inboard screws. The "C" clips must be placed between the cover plate and the switch main body.
8. Tighten the loosened screws. Verify that the lever arm moves freely in both the left and right turn signal switch positions.
9. Insert the Lighting and Turn Signal Switch assembly into the multifunction switch body and secure with the two screws removed in Step 4.
10. Install the upper and lower column shrouds and secure with the three screws removed in Step 3.
11. Connect the negative battery cable and reset the radio stations and digital clock.
12. Confirm that the non-cancelling concern has been eliminated.
