Subject:
ELANTRA/TIBURON A/C EVAPORATOR MOUNTING METHOD CHANGE
DESCRIPTION:
The mounting method for the air conditioning (A/C) evaporator has been changed for the Elantra and Tiburon.
The evaporator housing was previously mounted to the passenger side interior engine compartment wall with two (2) M6 nuts at the top and one (1) M6x25 bolt at the bottom. The new mounting method utilizes two (2) M6x2O bolts at the top and one M6 nut at the bottom. (See illustration).
The vehicle brackets were changed to accept the new hardware as of August 4th, 1997 production. The production date can be found on the vehicle certification plate on the driver's door.
Note:
The A/C kit hardware may not reflect this change. Thus an additional M6x20 bolt (Part No. 11253-06203) will be required to install the evaporator. This bolt can be ordered through your facing Parts Distribution Center.
