A/T - Shift Shock on Deceleration

Group: TRANSAXLE

Number: 96-40-007

Date: MARCH, 1996

Model: 1995-1996 ACCENT
1996 ELANTRA

Subject:
REDESIGN ED AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OIL FILTER

DESCRIPTION:

An automatic transaxle shift shock may occur if a rapid deceleration is followed by a rapid acceleration on Accent and 1996 Elantra models. This condition is the result of the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) sloshing forward in the transaxle oil pan and away from the pick-up port. To correct this condition, the ATF filter pick-up port was relocated from the rear of the oil pan to the middle of the oil pan, as shown in the diagram.
