DESCRIPTION:

Some 1996 Elantra Sedans and Wagons may exhibit an exhaust system buzz noise for several minutes while accelerating after an initial cold start.

CORRECTION:





A sub-muffler resonator has been added to the center exhaust pipe to eliminate the buzz noise. The updated part is a direct replacement for the previous assembly and can be identified by the resonator, as shown.

Note:
When reinstalling the heated oxygen sensor to the exhaust pipe, be sure to add anti-seize compound to the threads and torque to 50-60 Nm (500-600 kg.cm., 37-44 lb.ft.).
