SECURITY SYSTEM OPERATION CHECKLIST
DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this bulletin is to provide information about a new security system that is installed on some vehicles, and is available as an accessory through the normal parts channel.
HMA recommends that this checklist be used for vehicles equipped with the
security system in conjunction with the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI), and at delivery to familiarize the new owner with the features and proper operation of their security system.
CHECKLIST:
NOTE:
The Hyundai security system is supplied with the passive arming feature set to "off". The dealer and/or vehicle owner can turn this feature on by following the programing procedure noted in the SECURITY SYSTEM'S OWNERS MANUAL.
1. Make sure all doors and the trunk are closed.
2. Remote Arming Test: Press and release Button # 1 to arm the system. Arming can be confirmed by the following responses:
^ The siren will "chirp" twice (on Accent, this will be two horn beeps).
^ The marker lamps will flash twice.
^ The dashboard LED will begin flashing.
^ The doors will lock (this feature is not available on Accent).
3. Wait 10 seconds before proceeding to next step.
4. Sensor Sensitivity Test: Firmly "thump" the drivers side window pillar with the heel of your hand. The alarm should sound immediately. To stop the alarm, press and release Button # 1.
5. Remotely arm system by pressing Button # 1. Wait 10 seconds before proceeding to next step.
6. Lightly "thump" the same pillar (step 4). The alarm should not sound.
^ The sensitivity of this function can be adjusted. The sensor is located under the instrument panel, near the bottom of the steering column. To increase sensitivity, turn sensor's adjustment screw clockwise approximately 1/8 of a turn, then recheck. To decrease sensitivity, turn the sensor's adjustment screw counterclockwise approximately 1/8 of a turn, then recheck.
7. Door Trigger Test: With the system armed, use the key to unlock the drivers door and open the door. The alarm should sound immediately. To stop the alarm, press and release Button # 1.
8. Remotely arm system. Wait 10 seconds before proceeding to next step.
9. Trunk Trigger Test: [Accent models do not have this feature]
Use the key to unlock/open trunk. The alarm should sound immediately. To stop the alarm, press and release Button # 1.
10. Remote "Panic" Test: Press and hold down Button # 1 for approximately 3-4 seconds. The alarm should sound and the marker lamps should flash. To stop the alarm, press and release Button # 1.
11. Starter Interrupt Test: While sitting in the driver's seat with the doors closed, remotely arm system. Insert the ignition key and attempt to start the engine. It should not start. Remove the key and remotely disarm the system. You should now be able to start the engine.
12. Valet Mode Test: While the system is disarmed, insert the key and turn the ignition to the "on" position. Flick the Valet Switch (located under the drivers side dash, above the fuse panel door). The dashboard LED should light and stay lit, indicating that the system is in the Valet Mode. While in this mode ALL ALARM FUNCTIONS ARE DISARMED. The remote may still be used for keyless entry, and, on the Sonata model, for remote trunk release.
13. Remote Trunk Release Test: [available on Sonata models ONLY] With the alarm system disarmed, press and hold down Button # 2. The trunk should unlock.
