Camshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE/OPERATION
The camshaft position sensor detects the camshaft position on the compression stroke of number 1 and number 4 cylinders, converts it into a pulse signal. The engine control module then determines the fuel injection sequence based on this signal.
