PURPOSE/OPERATION
The ignition coil takes a low Voltage, 12 Volts, and converts it to a much higher Voltage, 20,000 to 40,000 Volts, through magnetic induction. In a distributorless ignition system as this the spark plug wires connect directly to the coil pack.
