Engine Lubrication: Service and Repair
WARNING: Be careful not to burn yourself, as the engine oil is hot.
1. Warm the engine up until it reaches normal operating temperature.
2. Stop the engine.
3. Remove the oil filler cap (on rocker cover) and the drain plug (on the oil pan) after removing the mud guard, then drain the engine oil.
4. Install and tighten the drain plug to 35-45 Nm (350-450 kg. cm., 25.8-33.2 ft. lbs.).
5. Fill new engine oil through the oil filler.
Drain and refill:
Dry fill: 3.3 liters (3.48 U.S. qts, 2.90 Imp. qts.).
Without oil filter: 2.5 liters (2.28 U.S. qts, 2.37 Imp. qts.).
With oil filter: 3.0 liters (3.17 U.S. qts, 2.64 Imp. qts.).
NOTE:
- Cover the generator with shop towel before pouring the engine oil to make sure that even if oil is spilt, it may not drop on the generator.
- Use an oil jug and a funnel to pour the engine oil.
6. Install the oil filler cap.
7. Start and run the engine.
8. Stop the engine and then check the oil level. Add oil if necessary.
