Suspension: Service and Repair




REMOVAL
1. Remove the shock absorber.
2. Remove the brake line clamp bolt.
3. Remove the upper arm.




With the special tool, disconnect the bail joint and knuckle

CAUTION: While the special tool is being used, loosen, do not remove the self-lock nut; only loosen it.

4. Remove the lower arm.
5. Remove the crossmember
Loosen the crossmember mounting nuts to lower the cross member.

CAUTION: Loosen the nuts, but do not remove them.

6. Remove the assist link.

INSPECTION
1. Check the bushing for wear and deterioration.
2. Check the upper arm or lower arm or assist link for bend or breakage.
3. Check the bolt joint dust cove for cracks.
4. Check all bolts for condition and straightness.




INSTALLATION
1. Install the assist link.
2. Tighten the crossmember mounting nuts.
3. Install the lower arm.
4. Install the upper arm.
