Shift Interlock: Description and Operation

The vehicle is equipped with the shift lock and key lock control system to prevent unwary shifting of shift lever and removing of key.
The shift lock system prevents the shift lever from moving "R" or "D" range from the "P" range if you do not depress the brake pedal.
If there is system malfunction, the shift will be released by inserting a thin object into the release slot on the shift lever panel. The key lock system prevents the ignition key from removing unless the shift lever is in the "P" position.
