Trailing Arm: Service and Repair
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. Remove the brake line clamp bolt
2. Remove brake caliper mounting bolts and then remove the brake caliper.
3. Remove the brake disc.
4. Remove the hub cap, wheel bearing nut and hub assembly.
5. Pull out the parking brake cable after removing the clip and the clamp bolt.
6. Remove the ABS speed sensor clamp bolt and then the ABS speed sensor (vehicles equipped with ABS).
7. Remove the backing plate.
8. Remove the lower arm ball joint mounting nut.
With the special tool, disconnect the ball joint and knuckle.
CAUTION: While the special tool is being used, do not remove the bail joint mounting nut; only loosen it.
9. Remove the stabilizer link.
10. Remove the upper arm ball joint mounting nut.
11. Remove the assist link ball joint mounting nut.
12. Remove the trailing arm mounting bolt, nut and then the trailing arm.
13. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
INSPECTION
1. Check trailing arm for cracks and deformation.
2. Check bushing for cracks, deterioration and wear.
