Canada - Lighting - Very Brief, Slight Headlamp Dimming
GROUPENGINE ELECTRICAL
NO.
02-36-017
DATE
NOVEMBER 08/02
MODEL
SONATA, SANTA FE, TIBURON
SUBJECT
VERY BRIEF, SLIGHT HEADLAMP DIMMING
This TSB replaces bulletin number 99-90-007 to include Santa Fe and Tiburon in regards to the use of Load Response Control (LRC) between the alternator and the ECM.
The alternator provides an input into the ECM and, depending on the electrical load (such as rear window defogger, blower motor speed, A/C status, etc.) the ECM will demand more or less electrical output from the alternator. As a result a brief dimming of the headlamps may occur while the ECM and alternator communicate. This may be especially noticeable in darker areas where street lights are infrequent and electrical load is high.
This is a normal condition and does not adversely affect visibility or headlamp illumination, nor does it indicate a malfunction of any kind in the electrical or charging system.
Do not attempt to repair this condition.
AFFECTED VEHICLES:
All EF Sonata vehicles from job # 1 (1999 ~).
All Santa Fe vehicles from job # 1 (2001 ~).
All GK Tiburon vehicles from job # 1 (2003 ~).
