Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Procedure

PROCEDURE:

1. Record the customer's pre-set radio stations.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

3. Remove the console switch mounting cover. Push the coin holder forward to create a gap at the rear edge. Carefully use a curved trim tool to pop out the rear tabs and lift it out of place.

4. Remove the console upper cover:

^ First, remove the two phillips screws.

^ Then, carefully use a curved trim tool to pop out the side tabs and lift it out of place. Disconnect the accessory power outlet connector.

5. The SRS CM can now be seen below the console.

6. Remove the connector from the module.

NOTE: It may be difficult to push in the release while pulling up on the locking arm.

7. Use a short (4") ratchet and a 10 mm socket to remove the three bolts holding the SRS CM. A longer ratchet may be required to initially loosen them.

NOTE: The front bolt holds the ground wire.

8. Carefully remove the module from the vehicle.

9. Reassemble all removed components in reverse order. If the battery must be connected for diagnostic purposes, be sure it is disconnected before reconnecting the wire harness to the module.

NOTE: In cases where the location of the ATM key lock and shift lock cables limit access to the SRS wire harness connector, plug the SRS wire harness connector into the SRS CM before installing the SRS CM. Make certain that the battery is disconnected prior to plugging the connector in.

10. Reprogram the customer's pre-set radio stations.
