DESCRIPTION:
This TSB provides information regarding access to the ECM / TCM in the 2000 2.5L V6 Sonata to attach to either HDS or Road Tech.
VEHICLES AFFECTED
2000 2.5L Sonata's produced 09/03/99 and after.
ATTACHING HDS TO THE ECM OR TCM
1. Remove the driver's side lower front center console trim panel.
NOTE: The two mounting screws which hold the panel have been moved from behind the center console trim to a more accessible location on the body of the front panel so they are directly accessible.
2. After removing the panel, detach either the ECM or TCM connector from its respective module.
NOTE: It is not necessary to remove either the ECM or TCM modules to attach the HDS adapter.
3. Connect the module to be tested to the HDS with the appropriate cable:
^ ECM - Use HY05 cable
^ TCM - Use TT14 cable
ATTACHING THE ROADTECH UNIT TO RECORD ECM DATA WHILE TEST
DRIVING THE VEHICLE
1. Remove the passenger side lower console trim cover. Refer to TSB 99-36-005 for the procedure to remove this panel.
NOTE: Attach the Road Tech unit through the passenger side lower console trim cover prior to driving to prevent interference with the drivers feet.
2. Detach the ECM connector and remove the ECM module. It is necessary to unmount the ECM to connect to the Roadtech unit.
3. Connect the ECM module, ECM connector and HDS POD using the HY05 cable.
4. Connect the Road Tech to the HDS POD and the Trigger to the Road Tech.
