DESCRIPTION:
A 1999-2000 2.4L Sonata, may experience a crank no start, hard starting after filling with fuel, or erratic idle speeds. One possible cause for this condition may be a mechanically stuck open canister purge valve (P/N
39460-38650).
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
If one of the above conditions exists, inspect the canister purge valve and intake system for vacuum leaks.
Remove the canister purge valve (see photo) and blow through the valve. No air should pass through the valve when it is removed from the vehicle.
The canister purge valve is located near the right side and below the intake surge tank.
