XG300/350L INTEGRATED MEMORY SYSTEM (IMS) OPERATION
This bulletin updates TSB # 00-90-007 to include 2002 to current XG350L models.
DESCRIPTION:
The XG300/350L vehicles offer a 2-position Integrated Memory System (IMS). The IMS panel, located on the driver side door, controls the memories for the driver side seat position and both outside rearview mirror angles. Two different driving position profiles and rearview mirror profiles can be entered in the IMS. This bulletin explains the IMS functions and how to properly operate it.
The XG300/350L is equipped with a multiplexed system for communication between the front doors and the Electronic Timing and Alarm Control System (ETACS). Vehicles with IMS have the IMS communication added to the multiplexed system. The multiplex communication lines (signal carrying wires) carry window (up/down), mirror (in/out/up/down) and door lock information between the ETACS, the driver's door module, the passenger door module and the IMS control module.
CONTROL MODULE LOCATIONS:
The ETACS Control Module is located beneath the instrument panel on the far left hand corner.
The IMS Control Module is located beneath the driver's seat. It stores the position of the driver's seat and both outside rearview mirrors.
The IMS Memory Module is located in the driver's door switch box.
IMS PANEL CONTROL FUNCTIONS:
^ AUTO - When this button is "ON", the drivers seat will automatically move rearward when the key is removed from the ignition (unless the seat is already at the rear position). It will return to the original position when the key is inserted into the ignition switch. The parking brake must be set the entire time.
^ STOP - Temporarily cancels the memory function.
^ M - The memory button prepares the system to record either of two preset adjustments for the driver's seat and both outside mirrors.
^ 1 - The storage location for the first memory setting. Pressing this button with the key on moves the drivers seat and both outside mirrors to the memorized positions.
^ 2 - The storage location for the second memory setting. Operation is identical to memory position "1".
TO MEMORIZE THE DRIVING POSITION:
1. Turn the ignition key "ON".
2. Adjust the driver's seat and outside rearview mirrors to the desired position.
3. Push the "M" button on the IMS until a signal beep is heard.
4. Within five seconds, push button "1" or "2" until a signal beeps twice.
NOTE:
The beep sounds mean that the positions are memorized in the IMS.
TO ACTIVATE THE MEMORIZED POSITION:
When you push button "1" or "2", (while the ignition key is in the "on" position) the driving position and outside rearview mirrors will be automatically adjusted to the position recorded for that button.
THE "AUTO" FUNCTION:
To activate the "auto" function, press the "auto" button on the door panel. A green light next to the button shows that it is activated.
IMPORTANT:
The "auto" function will not move the driver's seat unless the "foot type" parking brake (located beneath the left side of the lower instrument panel surface) is engaged before the ignition key is removed.
THE IMS WILL DO THE FOLLOWING WHEN THE "AUTO" FUNCTION IS ON:
1. The driver's seat moves rearward when the ignition key is removed from the ignition switch (unless the seat is already at the rear position).
2. The driver's seat will return to its original position when the ignition key is inserted into the ignition switch.
3. While the vehicle is shifted to reverse, the outside mirrors will automatically move downward to change the area visible with the outside mirrors. The mirrors will return to the original position when the transmission is shifted out of reverse.
NOTE:
Mirror movement is based on the remote control mirror switch position (see table shown).

REMOTE CONTROL MEMORY POSITION:
The seat and mirror positions can be memorized for each keyless entry transmitter. These memories are recorded each time the "lock" button is pressed. The transmitter memory can function with the IMS in or out of the "auto" mode.
EXITING THE VEHICLE:
1. Shift into park and apply the parking brake.
2. Remove the ignition key.
3. Exit the vehicle and close the door.
4. Push the "lock" button on the transmitter. (The current seat position will be memorized at that time).
RETURNING TO THE VEHICLE:
1. Press the unlock button. The drivers seat and outside mirrors will return to the position they were originally in when the vehicle was last locked with the transmitter.
NOTE:
If the transmitter "lock" button is accidentally pressed before the "unlock" button, the memory will be updated to the new memory positions.
