SERVICE PROCEDURE

Reprogramming Cautions

1. Do not start the engine during the procedure.

2. Do not switch the ignition key OFF during the procedure.

3. Do not disconnect any wiring connectors during the procedure.

4. Do not switch the Hi-Scan Pro OFF during the procedure.

5. After reprogramming is complete, disconnect the Hi-Scan Pro from the vehicle, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, then start the engine and let it run for one minute.

6. Remove the reprogramming software card from the Hi-Scan Pro and re-install the diagnostic software card (SolPro card). Connect the Data Link Connector cable to the Data Link Connector and check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Erase if any appear.

Hi-Scan Pro Setup

1. Be sure that the Data Link Connector (DLC) cable is installed to your Hi-Scan Pro.

2. Remove both the software card and the troubleshooting card, if installed, from your Hi-Scan Pro.

3. Insert only the "Red" 32MB reprogramming software card into the upper slot of your Hi-Scan Pro.
(This is the new reprogramming software card that you have just received.)

4. Connect the Data Link Connector cable to the vehicle's Data Link Connector (DLC).

Automatic Update Procedure

1. Once the Hi-Scan Pro has been set up and connected to the vehicle as described above, turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

2. Turn the Hi-Scan Pro ON.

3. Select option "22. GK 2.7 HESITATION" and press "ENTER."

4. Select option "01. GK 2.7 HESITATION [AUTO MODE]" and press "ENTER."

5. Enter the password 1229 and press "ENTER."

6. Turn the ignition key OFF and ON within 10 seconds then press "ENTER".

7. From this point, the Hi-Scan Pro is checking the ECM ID and will begin reprogramming the ECM automatically.

8. When the "COMPLETED" message appears, the reprogramming was successful. To complete the new reprogramming and be sure it is retained in the ECM's memory, turn the Hi-Scan Pro OFF and disconnect, turn the ignition switch to the OFF, then start the engine.

9. Check for any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), and erase if necessary.

Manual Update Procedure

In the event menu option "01. GK 2.7 HESITATION [AUTO MODE]" fails to download the new ECM program, option "02. GK 2.7 HESITATION [ERROR MODE]" must be used.

1. Set-up the Hi-Scan Pro as described on page 2, then turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

2. Turn the Hi-Scan Pro ON.

3. Select option "22. GK 2.7 HESITATION" and press "ENTER."

4. Select option "02. GK 2.7 HESITATION [ERROR MODE]" and press "ENTER."

5. Select option that is correct for your vehicle ("03" or "04") then press "ENTER".

6. Enter the correct password from the chart above and press "ENTER".

Note:
Once the password has been entered and accepted, the rest of the process is exactly the same as the automatic update procedure.

IMPORTANT:
Be sure to enter the correct password. Entering an incorrect password will download the wrong ECM logic for the vehicle and, thereby, render the ECM inoperable.

7. Turn the ignition key OFF and ON within 10 seconds then press "ENTER".

8. From this point, the Hi-Scan Pro is checking the ECM ID and will begin reprogramming the ECM automatically.

9. When the "COMPLETED" message appears, the reprogramming was successful. To complete the new reprogramming and be sure it is retained in the ECM's memory, turn the Hi-Scan Pro OFF and disconnect, turn the ignition switch to the OFF, then start the engine.

10. Check for any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), and erase if necessary.

ERROR MESSAGES

1. INVALID PASSWORD: Please enter the password again.
2. REPROGRAMMING ERROR PLEASE WAIT FOR RETRY: An error occurred during reprogramming. The Hi-Scan Pro will retry reprogramming automatically.
3. THIS ECU IS DIFFERENT TYPE: This procedure does not apply to this vehicle.
