W/Harness Inspection

Terminal and Connector Inspection

1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
2. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.
3. Has a problem been found ?

Signal Circuit Inspection

1. Check for open/short circuit in harness
(1) Ignition "OFF"
(2) Disconnect Vehicle speed sensor.
(3) Ignition "ON"
(4) Measure voltage between Vehicle speed sensor signal line and chassis ground

Specification : Approx. 9.5V

(5) Is the measured voltage within specifications ?

Power Supply Circuit Inspection

1. Check for open/short circuit in harness
(1) Ignition "OFF"
(2) Disconnect Vehicle speed sensor.
(3) Ignition "ON"
(4) Measure voltage between Vehicle speed sensor power terminal and chassis ground

Specification : 9 - 16 V

(5) Is the measured voltage within specifications ?

Ground Circuit inspection

1. Check for open/short circuit in harness
(1) Ignition "OFF"
(2) Disconnect Vehicle speed sensor.
(3) Ignition "ON"
(4) Measure voltage between Vehicle speed sensor signal line and chassis ground
(5) Measure voltage between Vehicle speed sensor power and ground terminal

Specification : | (Voltage from procedure 4) - (Voltage from procedure 5) | < 200 mV

(6) Is the difference between two measured voltage within specifications ?
