AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE STALL TEST PROCEDURE
This TSB revises TSB 09-AT-008 to add 2010 and 2011 models
DESCRIPTION:
To diagnose a transaxle for "slipping or Diagnostic Trouble Codes P0731, P0732, P0733, P0734 or P0735 (incorrect gear ratio), perform a stall test using:
^ The A/T Tester Plus, P/N TCAE 125B (on applicable models) or
^ The stall test procedure shown below.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:
Stall Test Procedure without A/T Tester:
1. Check the automatic transaxle fluid level according to the following TSB. Add ATF, if necessary, to bring the level within the "HOT" range.
2. Apply the parking brake and place blocks in front and behind both front wheels.
CAUTION:
Do not let anybody stand in front or behind the vehicle.
3. Start the engine and move the shift lever to "D".
4. Press and hold the brake pedal, then fully depress the accelerator and record the engine speed.
CAUTION:
Do not hold the throttle fully open for more than 3 seconds. Release the throttle and allow the engine to idle in "N" for 15 seconds.
5. Confirm the stall speed is within the specifications shown in the related shop manual (approximately 2OOO~29OO rpm at sea level, depending on model). If the stall speed is higher than specification, one or more clutches may be slipping.
6. Move the shift lever to "R", then repeat Steps 4~5. Go to Step 7.
7. Move the shift lever to the "Sports Mode position (if installed), then move the lever forward to select "Gear 2". Perform Steps 4~5.
6-SPEED ATM - 2010 Tucson & Santa Fe, 2011 Sonata & Elantra, 2012 Accent & Azera. Perform a stall test in the following gears:
Test OD clutch: Drive in Sports Mode 4th gear and confirm the OD clutch does not slip or rev to redline at full throttle.
6-SPEED ATM - Veracruz 3.8L: Perform a stall test In the following gears:
Test C2 Clutch: Drive in Sports Mode A" and confirm the C2" clutch does not slip or rev to redline at full throttle.
6-SPEED ATM - Genesis Sedan 3.8L: Perform ~ stall test in the following gears:
Test C2 Clutch: Drive in Sports Mode "A" and confirm the "C2" clutch does not slip or rev to redline at full throttle.
Test C4 Clutch: Drive in Sports mode land confirm engine braking when decelerating.
6-SPEED ATM - Genesis Sedan 4.6L & Genesis coupe 3.8L: Perform a stall test in the following gears:
Test "E" Clutch: Drive in Sports Mode "4" and confirm the "E" clutch does not slip or rev to redline at full throttle.
5-SPEED ATM - Genesis Coupe 2.0L: Perform a stall test in the following gears:
Test Input Clutch: Drive in Sports Mode 4" and confirm the Input clutch does not slip or rev to redline at full throttle.
5-SPEED ATM WITH SPORTS MODE - (Except Genesis Coupe 2.0L): Perform a stall test in the following gears.
Test OD clutch: Drive Sports Mode "3" and confirm the "OD" clutch does not slip or rev to redline at full throttle.
4-SPEED ATM WITH PRND32L SHIFT PATTERN ~ 2007 Elantra Sedan and 2009 Elantra Touring. Perform a stall test in the following gears:
Test 2-4 Brake: Drive in "2" above 30 mph and confirm the 2-4 brake does not slip or rev to redline at full throttle.
Test OD Clutch: Drive in 3" above 60 mph and confirm the OD clutch does not slip or rev to redline at full throttle.
4-SPEED ATM WITH PRND2L SHIFT PATTERN - 1999~01 Sonata, 1999~01
Tiburon Perform a stall test in the following gears.
Test OD Clutch: Drive in 3" above 60 mph and confirm the OD clutch does not slip or rev to redline at full throttle.
4-SPEED ATM WITH PRDL SHIFT PATTERN: (1995~2011 Accent)
Perform a stall test in the following gears.
Test End Clutch: Drive in 4th gear above 60 mph and confirm the end clutch does not slip or rev to redline at full throttle.
