Integrated Memory System - B1959 Tilt Position Sensor Error - W/Harness Inspection

Terminal and Connector Inspection

1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.
Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
2. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.
3. Has a problem been found?






Signal Circuit Inspection

Check for open in harness
1. Ignition "OFF"
2. Disconnect tilt motor.
3. Measure resistance between terminal "8" of Tilt/Telescope ECU and terminal "10" of tilt sensor.
4. Measure resistance between terminal "9" of Tilt/Telescope ECU and terminal "6" of tilt sensor.

Specification : Approx. 0 Ohms




5. Is the measured resistance within specifications?





Check for short in harness
1. Ignition "OFF"
2. Disconnect tilt motor.
3. Measure resistance between terminal "6" and "10" of tilt sensor and chassis ground

Specification : Approx. Infinity Ohms




4. Is the measured resistance within specifications?






Power Supply Circuit Inspection

Motor Power circuit Inspection
1) Check for open in harness
1. Ignition "OFF"
2. Disconnect tilt motor.
3. Measure resistance between terminal "2" of Tilt/Telescope ECU and terminal "4" of tilt motor.
4. Measure resistance between terminal "3" of Tilt/Telescope ECU and terminal "5" of tilt motor.

Specification : Approx. 0 Ohms




5. Is the measured resistance within specifications?





2) Check for short in harness
1. Ignition "OFF"
2. Disconnect tilt motor.
3. Measure resistance between terminal "4" of tilt motor and chassis ground
4. Measure resistance between terminal "5" of tilt motor and chassis ground

Specification : Approx. Infinity Ohms




5. Is the measured resistance within specifications?





Sensor Power circuit Inspection
1. Ignition "OFF"
2. Disconnect tilt motor.
3. Measure voltage between terminal "11" of tilt motor and chassis ground

Specification : Approx. 5 V




4. Is the measured voltage within specifications?






Ground Circuit inspection

Check for open in harness
1. Ignition "OFF"
2. Disconnect tilt motor.
3. Measure resistance between terminal "9" of tilt motor and chassis ground

Specification : Approx. 0 Ohms




4. Is the measured resistance within specifications?
