Brakes - Front Brake Pad Shim Replacement

SUBJECT: FRONT BRAKE PAD SHIM REPLACEMENT
Description:
This bulletin describes the procedure to replace the front brake pad inner shims on the left and right brake calipers.
NOTE:
This service procedure only applies to vehicles equipped with the "4 piston" type caliper. See photos for examples.

Service Procedure:
1. Lift the vehicle and remove the front left and right wheels by loosening the wheel lugs (A).
Lug Nut Tightening Torque :
^ 88.3-107.9 Nm
^ (9-11 kgf.m, 65.1-79.6 lb-ft)
NOTE
Vehicles equipped with PIO wheels locks - locate the wheel lock key and remove the wheel lock.
2. NOTE This bulletin is only applied to vehicles with a 4 piston type front brake caliper.
3. Mark the inner and outer brake pads with a paint pen or marker. This will help when reinstalling the brake pads.
Use the following markings:
(A1) -> Inner - two dots
(A2) -> Outer - one dot
4. Remove the locking pins (B) using needle nose pliers.
5. Remove the guide pins (C).
6. Remove the retraction spring (D).
7. Remove the left (outer) brake pad (E).
8. Remove the right (inner) brake pad (F).
9. Remove the brake outer pad shim (G).
Do Not Discard.
10. Remove the brake inner pad shim (H) and discard.
11. Install the new brake inner pad shim (I) (P/N: 58119-3A000-FFF) to the brake pad.
12. Evenly apply anti-seize compound (J) to the open slots (M) as shown in the photo evenly.
13. Re-install the removed brake outer pad shim (G) to the brake pad. (From step 9)
14. Repeat above steps 9 through 13 for the inner (other) brake pad.
Re-install the assembled brake pads to the caliper in reverse order of removal - remembering steps 6 and 7 (Inner and Outer Pad Location)
Re-install the front wheel & tire assembly.
Repeat above steps 1 through 13 for the other side.
