IMPORTANT:
DEALERS MUST PERFORM THIS CAMPAIGN ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES PRIOR TO CUSTOMER RETAIL DELIVERY.

IMPORTANT:
WHEN A VEHICLE ARRIVES AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, ACCESS HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA'S "WARRANTY VEHICLE INFORMATION" SCREEN VIA DCS ON-LINE TO IDENTIFY OPEN CAMPAIGNS.

DESCRIPTION:

The following conditions may occur:

1. Radio display is inoperative

2. XM radio is inoperative

3. Audio Preset button 1 and/or 6 binds against the Center Fascia Panel

APPLICABLE VEHICLES:

Models: 2011 Sonata (YFA) GDI and Turbo engine

Affected Vehicle Production Date Range: December 14, 2009 - October 22, 2010





PARTS INFORMATION:





REQUIRED TOOLS:

INSPECTION PROCEDURE:

NOTE:
Before conducting the procedure, verify that the vehicle falls within the production date range noted on the first page of this TSB.

NOTE:
Verify vehicle has an open TE7 Campaign.

1. Turn the key to "ON" position. Press the XM button to turn on the radio in XM mode. The vehicle must be outside to ensure a strong XM signal is received.

2. Confirm display illuminates and characters appear.

3. Confirm audio can be heard and channel information can be seen on the display.

4. Press and release Preset buttons 1 and 6 a few times to confirm they do NOT stick.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

PRESET BUTTON STICKS





1. Turn the key to the OFF position. Remove the left and right Crash Pad Center Garnish Assy pieces.

NOTE:
Crash Pad Center Garnish Assemblies held in place with clips.





2. Remove the 2 screws at the bottom of the Center Fascia Panel.

3. Use a plastic trim remover to remove the Center Fascia Panel from the center stack.





NOTE:
Center Fascia Panel held in place by 6 clips as shown.





4. Disconnect all connections from the HVAC controller, Hazard switch, and Passenger Seat Belt tell-tale and remove the Center Fascia Panel.





5. Remove the HVAC controller from the Center Fascia panel by removing the 4 screws and releasing the clips.





6. Remove the Passenger Seatbelt/Airbag tell-tale indicator by removing the 2 screws.





7. Remove the Hazard switch by releasing the clips on the sides and pushing through the front of the panel.





8. Remove the LH vent by removing the 4 screws.





9. Remove the RH Vent by removing the 4 screws.





10. Take the new Center Fascia Panel and reassemble all of the components removed from the old center fascia panel in the reverse order.

11. Reassemble the Center Fascia Panel and the Crash Pad Center Garnish Assemblies to the center stack.

12. Confirm radio preset buttons no longer bind on the Center Fascia Panel.

13. Confirm HVAC, Hazard light switch, and Passenger Airbag telltale light operate and/or illuminate.

RADIO DISPLAY INOPERATIVE

IMPORTANT:
Record customer radio presets before replacing the radio head unit.

1. If a problem is found during the radio display inspection, replace the head unit or display (monitor).

For radio head or display (monitor) unit part numbers, always consult the latest parts catalog.

XM RADIO INOPERATIVE

IMPORTANT:
Record customer radio presets before replacing the radio head unit.

1. If a problem is found during the XM radio inspection, check connectors at radio and antenna.

2. Replace radio or antenna if necessary.

NOTE:
For antenna or head unit part numbers, always consult the latest parts catalog.

NOTE
If radio requires removal or replacement, confirm preset buttons 1 and 6 do NOT stick after reassembling center fascia.
