Service Procedure
SERVICE PROCEDURE:NOTE
Before performing this procedure, confirm if the customer has an ACTIVE Blue Link account with an ESSENTIALS package. If the customer is not enrolled into Blue Link or does not have the Essentials package, then he/she can do the following:
1. Enroll into Blue Link if there is no active account. Make sure the customer selects the Essential package.
2. If there is an active account, then upgrade to the Essentials package if applicable.
HOW TO CHECK THE CUSTOMERS BLUE LINK ACCOUNT STATUS
1.1 Log into www.hmaservice.com.
1.2 Select VIN Search.
1.3 Enter the customers VIN number and then select GO.
1.4 Select Bluelink Enrollment Status.
1.5 A screen will pop up with the customers Blue Link account status, and the type of packages. Assure the customer has the Essential package.
NOTE
If the customers Blue Link account status screen does not pop up after clicking the Blue Link Enrollment Status, then try using the Mozilla or Internet Explorer browser.
BCM REPROGRAMMING
GENERAL PRECAUTIONS:
NOTE
Make sure the battery icon at the bottom right of the GDS laptop shows at least 50%. If not, charge the GDS or attach a battery charger.
^ Make sure the GDS is updated to the latest version using the internet smart update.
^ Make sure the vehicle's battery has reasonable charge. If the vehicle has been in storage for a long period of time, run the engine to ensure an adequate battery charge state for reliable update results.
^ Turn off all lights (do not leave the headlight switch in auto mode) and all accessories (including heater/air conditioner/fan, audio, heated seats, rear defroster, etc) to ensure the battery will not be discharged during the update.
^ Perform the update with the ignition key in the ON position. (Turn ignition key to the ON position or press the Start-Stop button 2 times without depressing the brake pedal).
^ Do not disconnect any cables connected to the vehicle or the GDS during the update.
^ Do not start the engine or turn the ignition switch OFF during the update.
2.1 Connect the USB cable between the GDS and the VCI.
2.2 Connect the 16-pin DLC connector from the VCI into the DLC located under the drivers side dash (within the fuse box).
2.3 Press the power button on the VCI to turn it ON.
2.4 Turn the ignition key to the ON position. (Turn ignition key to the ON position, or press the Start-Stop button 2 times without depressing the brake pedal).
GDS AUTO MODE BCM REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE
3.1 From the GDS home page, select ECU Upgrade. After selecting ECU Upgrade, if the GDS does not automatically detect the VIN, then manually enter the VIN number.
3.2 Select BCM as the system, select All Systems in the sub window, and then select OK.
3.3 Select Auto Mode and then select Next.
3.4 Select BCM and then select OK.
3.5 The GDS will read the ROM ID. Confirm the ROM is applicable as shown on Page 1, "ROM ID Information Table".
3.6 Select the reprogramming event "272 YF BCM UPDATE" and then select Upgrade.
NOTE
Disregard the "HEV" if this event is shown as 272 YF (HEV) BCM UPDATE and still select the shown event.
3.7 If the screen indicates "Voltage is OK" (voltage 12 volts or greater), select OK. If not, select CANCEL and charge the vehicle battery by running the engine for 10 minutes.
3.8 Reprogramming will begin and the progress of the update will appear on the bar graph. It will take approximately 11 minutes until the progress bar reaches 100%.
3.9 When the reprogramming is completed, wait for a confirmation pop up screen shown above, and then select OK.
3.10 Check if any incidental Diagnostic Codes (DTC) have been created by the reprogramming, and then clear all the DTC(s). If there is no DTC then PROCEDURE IS COMPLETE.
3.11 Confirm all the DTC(s) have been cleared from the GDS, and then proceed with clearing the DTC(s) from the Blue Link system. See the last section of this TSB for instructions on how to clear DTC(s) through Blue Link.
GDS MANUAL MODE BCM REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE
NOTE
The manual reprogramming should be performed only when the automatic update fails, or when the automatic option is not available.
4.1 From the GDS home page, select ECU Upgrade. After selecting ECU Upgrade, if the GDS does not automatically detect the VIN, then manually enter the VIN number.
4.2 Select BCM as the system, select All Systems in the sub window, and then select OK.
4.3 Select Manual Mode and then select Next.
4.4 Select BCM and then select Next.
4.5 Select the reprogramming event "272 YF BCM UPDATE" and then select Next.
NOTE
Disregard the "HEV" if this event is shown as 272 YF (HEV) BCM UPDATE and still select the shown event.
4.7 If the vehicle battery voltage is 12 volts or greater, then select OK. If not, select CANCEL and charge the vehicle battery by running the engine for 10 minutes.
4.8 Reprogramming will begin and the progress of the update will appear on the bar graph. It will take approximately 11 minutes until the progress bar reaches 100%.
4.9 When the reprogramming is completed, wait for a confirmation pop up screen shown above, and then select OK.
4.10 Check if any incidental Diagnostic Codes (DTC) have been created by the reprogramming, and then clear all the DTC(s). If there is no DTC then PROCEDURE IS COMPLETE.
4.11 Confirm all the DTC(s) have been cleared from the GDS, and then proceed with clearing the DTC(s) from the Blue Link system. See the next section of this TSB for instructions on how to clear DTC(s) through Blue Link.
CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC CODE(S) FROM BLUE LINK SYSTEM
NOTE
After reprogramming the BCM, it is possible a diagnostic code(s) may trigger. Therefore, it is necessary to also clear the diagnostic code(s) from the Blue Link system.
5.1 Make sure vehicle is in an open location where the cellular signal is not affected.
5.2 Disconnect the GDS tool from the OBD-II connector.
5.3 Turn the ignition ON and then OFF, wait 10 seconds, and repeat ignition ON and OFF again.
5.4 Turn the engine ON, allow engine to idle for 10 seconds, and then proceed to the next step.
5.5 Press the Blue Link button on the rear view mirror.
5.6 Wait for the system to prompt "Please say the name of the service", and then say "Vehicle Assist".
5.7 System will confirm by stating "Vehicle Assist, you can say Roadside Assistance, Agent Assistance, Service Link, Quick Tip, or Main Menu". Then say "Blue Link Service Complete". This is a hidden command, so the Blue Link interactive voice will not list it as an available option.
5.8 System will confirm by stating "Service complete please say Main Menu or Goodbye", then say "Goodbye". Blue Link system will then disconnect and end the call.
5.9 LEAVE ENGINE RUNNING FOR A MINIMUM OF 3 MINUTES,and then turn the engine OFF.
5.10 Turn engine ON and press the Blue Link button on the rear view mirror.
5.11 Verify "A possible condition" message is no longer heard.
NOTE
If the "A possible condition" message is still heard, repeat steps 5.3 - 5.11.
