SERVICE INFORMATION
Certain 2008 EX and 2009 FX models come equipped with the Around View Monitor System that is capable of displaying an almost 360 degree view around the vehicle while moving at very slow speeds as well as reverse.
This system has two configuration modes:
^ Drive and Reverse configuration, or
^ Reverse Only configuration.
This bulletin provides instructions to enable dealers to switch the Around View Monitor configuration between "Drive and Reverse" and "Reverse Only".
NOTE:
As of October 1, 2008 the Connecticut law prohibiting the operation of Around View Monitor while the vehicle is moving forward has been changed. Connecticut law now allows Around View Monitor operation while moving forward (Drive and Reverse Configuration).
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Determine / Confirm the Around View Monitor Configuration (Reverse Only or Drive and Reverse)
1. With the ignition ON, put your foot on the brake and shift to R (reverse). You should see a "rear view and birds eye view" on the screen.
2. Keep your foot on the brake, move the shift lever to D (drive), then press the camera button.
If the system is set to:
^ Drive and Reverse configuration you will see a "front view and birds eye view" on the screen.
^ Reverse Only configuration the "status" screen will display.
Switching the Around View Monitor Configuration
1. Place the transmission in Park and set the parking brake.
2. Turn the ignition ON (engine OFF).
^ Foot off the brake, press the start button twice.
3. Turn the audio system OFF and confirm "Audio OFF" on the status screen.
4. Press and hold the Settings button.
5. While holding the "SETTINGS" button twist the audio volume knob back and forth until the "System Diagnostic" menu appears.
6. On the screen, select Confirmation / Adjustment, then press the enter button.
7. Scroll down the screen and select Camera Cont. then press the enter button.
8. On the screen, select Correct Draw Line of Camera Image then press the enter button.
9. On the screen, select Front-Side View, then press the enter button.
10. The front and side view will display on the screen.
^ If the Around View Monitor is configured to Drive and Reverse you will see the front view.
^ If the Around View Monitor is configured to Reverse Only you will see a blank yellow screen.
NOTE:
Step 11 will switch the Around View Monitor configuration from Reverse Only to Drive and Reverse or from Drive and Reverse to Reverse Only.
11. Put your foot on the brake and shift the transmission to R and back to P 5 times. Finish with the transmission in P.
12. Press the BACK button 5 times to reboot the system and return to the main menu.
13. Before delivering the vehicle to the customer make sure the Around View Monitor configuration is set correctly (Refer to the beginning of this Service Procedure).
