Preliminary Checks and Symptom Chart

PRELIMINARY CHECKS

- The following PRELIMINARY CHECKS are functional checks to make sure that the symptoms are really occurring in the Automatic Drive Positioner system.
- Note the result of each PRELIMINARY CHECK before referring to the Diagnostic Procedures.
- The combination of the results of each of the PRELIMINARY CHECKS 1, 2, 3 and 4 eliminates good system, parts and circuits when performing trouble diagnoses.
- Before referring to PRELIMINARY CHECKS, perform the following PREPARATION to cancel memories.

PREPARATION





1) Disconnect battery cable and keep it disconnected for more than 1 minute.
2) Reconnect battery cable.
3) Open and close driver's side door more than 2 times with key inserted (key switch ON) and ignition switch OFF.

4) Check sliding, reclining, front lifting and rear lifting operations using power seat control switches.

PRELIMINARY CHECK 2 - FUNCTIONAL CHECK FOR STEERING COLUMN MANUAL OPERATION





5) Check tilt and telescopic operations using steering switch.

PRELIMINARY CHECK 3 - FUNCTIONAL CHECK FOR MEMORY SETS





6) With the ignition switch "ON", touch the main memory switch.

The Indicator L.E.D.s come on for approximately 0.5 sec. after the main memory switch is touched.





7) Touch memory switch 1 within 5 sec. after touching main memory switch.

Make sure indicator L.E.D. for memory switch 1 comes on for approximately 5 sec. after memory switch 1 Is touched. In this case, memory 1 is set.

8) Move the driver's seat and the steering column to the proper position using power seat control switches and steering switch. If driver's seat or steering column does not move at all, go to next step 9).





9) With the ignition switch 'ON", touch the main memory switch.

NOTE: The indicator L.E.D. for memory switch 2 comes on for approximately 0.5 sec. after main memory switch is touched.





10) Touch memory switch 2 within 5 sec. after touching main memory switch.

NOTE: Make sure indicator L.E.D. for memory switch 2 comes on for approximately 5 sec. after memory switch 2 is touched. in this case, memory 2 is set.





RESULT

PRELIMINARY CHECK 4 - SELF-DIAGNOSIS WITHOUT CONSULT

11) Perform self-diagnosis without CONSULT.

NOTE: Do not perform self-diagnosis with CONSULT in this instance.
