Ignition System: Description and Operation
The optical ignition system is used on the G20 and M30 models. The
ignition timing is controlled by the electronic control unit (ECU) which receives input data from various sensors. The ECU calculates inputted data and then alters the ignition timing based on load, engine speed and various other conditions. Ignition signals are then sent to the
power transistor, coil and
spark plugs.
