Removal and Installation

1. Remove exhaust pipe, then the propeller shaft.
2. Plug rear end of transmission rear extension housing.
3. Remove both driveshafts.
4. Remove nuts securing final drive rear cover to suspension member.
5. Support weight of final drive with suitable jack, then remove mounting bracket from front of final drive.
6. Move final drive forward together with jack. Remove rear cover stud bolts from suspension member.
7. Lower final drive from vehicle. Support suspension member to prevent insulators from being twisted or damaged.
8. Reverse procedure to install noting the following:
a. Torque hub nut to 152-203 ft. lbs.
b. Torque final drive flange to propeller shaft to 65-72 ft. lbs.
c. Torque propeller shaft to center bearing support flange to 40-47 ft. lbs.
d. Torque Side flange bolts to 40-47 ft. lbs.
