Ignition Cable: Description and Operation

Ignition Wire:

PURPOSE
Connects the ignition coil to the distributor and the spark plugs.

OPERATION
The coil wire connects the ignition coil to the distributor cap, allowing high voltage to flow from the coil to the distributor cap.
The spark plug wires connect the terminals in the distributor cap to the spark plugs, allowing high voltage to flow to the spark plugs in the correct sequence.

CONSTRUCTION
The ignition wires have an internal resistance to suppress radio static and to eliminate static that may interfere with sensitive computer components.
