Ignition Cable: Testing and Inspection
Ignition Wire Visual Inspection:
VISUAL INSPECTION
Visually inspect the ignition wires for the following:
^ Insulation for swelling or breakdown due to fuel, oil, grease or etc...
^ Insulation for cracks or breaks.
^ Insulator boots for swelling or breakdown due to fuel, oil, grease or etc...
^ Insulator boots for cracks or breaks.
^ Terminal ends for corrosion, cracks or looseness.
Ignition Wire Resistance Test:
RESISTANCE TEST
1. Using an ohmmeter, check the resistance between the terminal ends. Resistance: Less than 30k Ohms at 20° C (68° F)
2. Replace the wire if it fails the above test.
