Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
- Turn the ignition key off.
- Disconnect the idle switch and throttle sensor connectors.
- Remove the 2 bolts securing the unit to the throttle chamber and remove the unit.



INSTALLATION
- Install the unit to the throttle shaft, aligning the flat area on the shaft with the flat area on the unit.
- Install the screws and tighten slightly. [1]
- Reconnect the throttle sensor and idle switch connectors.

NOTE: [1] Tighten mounting screws completely, after adjustment procedure is finished.


Throttle Position Sensor Adjustment:





ADJUSTMENT
- Start the engine and warm to operating temperature.
- Using a volt meter, check the output voltage between terminals as shown.
^ If the voltage is between 0.4 - 0.5 Volts DC at idle, the sensor is adjusted properly.
^ If the voltage is not between 0.4 - 0.5 Volts DC at idle, continue with adjustment procedure.
- Loosen the two throttle sensor securing screws.
- Rotate the sensor until 0.46 Volts DC is measured between the terminals at idle.
- Tighten the screws and recheck the voltage.
