1994-96 Q45 LAN SYSTEM IMPROPER OPERATION

APPLIED VEHICLE(S):
1994-96 Q45 (G50)

SERVICE INFORMATION

If a 1994-96 Q45 vehicle exhibits incorrect local area network (LAN) system operations, the primary symptom may be incorrect automatic drive positioner (ADP) adjustment. Other symptoms may include improper operation of:

- Interior/exterior lights (lights stay on or flash)

- Power door locks (lock and unlock rapidly)

- Power windows (when the key is removed from the ignition, both front windows move partially up/down)

- Power mirrors (no adjustment)

- Windshield wipers (will not shut off until key is switched off).

A new body control module (BCM) has been developed to resolve these incidents. Perform the following SERVICE PROCEDURE to diagnose and repair the vehicle.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Confirm one or more of the above listed incidents occur.

2. Replace the BCM with the countermeasure part.

3. The ADP system must be initialized anytime the BCM or the battery is replaced. Perform the following procedure:

A. Insert the key into the ignition switch.

B. Open, close, then open the driver's side door.

C. Make sure the ADP automatic mode is functioning properly.

4. Refer to the EL section of the appropriate service manual, or the INFINITINET Technical Information Sub-System for electrical incidents that are unrelated to the LAN system.
