SERVICE INFORMATION:
The sub-camshaft position sensor (built into the camshaft position sensor) has been eliminated beginning with the applied VINs. Therefore, the sub-camshaft position sensor information will not be applicable on these models.
Sub-camshaft Position Sensor:
PURPOSE
The Sub-Camshaft Position Sensor operates when the Camshaft Position Sensor is malfunctioning.
OPERATION
The Sub-Camshaft Position Sensor is a small magnetic generator which consists of a signal rotor and a pickup. The perimeter of the signal rotor has grooves which change the magnetic lines of force across the pickup so that a pulse is produced.
