SERVICE INFORMATION
Follow the procedures in this bulletin to diagnose and repair a 1994-96 Q45 if the automatic drive positioner system does not adjust the driver's seat and steering column automatically when the driver gets in or out of the vehicle and the following symptoms occur:
^ The two LEDs for the set memory buttons flash continuously
^ The driver's seat slide, or reclining seat back, or steering wheel tilt/telescopic column cannot be adjusted manually back and forth.
A new body control module (BCM) has been developed to correct this incident.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Verify if both symptoms occur.
2. If the vehicle has both symptoms, replace the BCM with the new BCM.
NOTE:
You will typically find the SEAT SLIDE - PAST OUTPUT FAIL code using CONSULT in "SELF-DIAG RESULTS" mode in "AUTO DRIVE POSITIONER". However sometimes you may find the TILT/TELESCOPE code. Many times the automatic drive positioner system will function normally after self-diagnosis is completed.
3. After replacing the BCM or the battery, it is necessary for you to initialize the system using the following procedure.
A. Insert the ignition key into the ignition switch.
B. Open, close, then open the driver's door.
C. Make sure the auto mode is functioning properly.
4. If the vehicle does not have all the symptoms, refer to the appropriate service manual, section EL or INFINITINET for a more detailed diagnosis.
NOTE:
The ADP system will not operate when the cancel switch on the steering column is ON.
