Vehicle Speed Sensor: Description and Operation

Vehicle Speed Sensor:

PURPOSE
To provide the ECCS Control Module (ECM) with a vehicle speed signal.

OPERATION
The vehicle speed sensor provides a vehicle speed signal to the speedometer and the speedometer sends a signal to the ECM. The speed sensor consists of a pulse generator which is installed in the transmission.
