This amended version of ITB97-O18 corrects the P/N information in the SERVICE PROCEDURE. Please discard ITB97-18.

SERVICE INFORMATION

If a 1997 I30 has a MIL "on" and diagnostic trouble code P0300 (multi-cylinder misfire) stored and (1) the customer has not experienced engine roughness and (2) the technician cannot determine the cause of the incident, the cause may be the engine control module (ECM).

There is a countermeasure ECM available to reduce this incident.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Perform the diagnosis for P0300 from the service manual page EC-191.

2. Check the ECM part number with CONSULT.

^ Part numbers are 23710-0L700 through 23710-0L702 and 23710-0L710 through 23710-0L712.

3. If the cause of the incident is not determined, replace the ECM with the appropriate part number from the table.
