Service Procedure
NOTE:This is the ONLY approved repair procedure for this incident. A claim to Infiniti division for the repair of this incident may be denied if the repair is not performed exactly as outlined in this bulletin.
1. Remove front and rear seat bolt finishers/protectors.
2. Remove the (4) 14 mm seat bolts.
3. Check the voltage to the seat slide motor. Refer to the EL section of the appropriate Service Manual to check the voltage and connector.
^ If the voltage measures battery voltage, proceed to step 4.
^ If the voltage measures 0 volts DC, with the seat slide switch ON, this bulletin does not apply. Check the ADP or Power Seal system using the EL section of the appropriate Service Manual.
4. Record the radio station pre-sets for programming after the service procedure.
5. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait (3) minutes. This will allow the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which includes the front seat side air bags, to deactivate.
6. Tilt the entire seat assembly back to access all the vehicle harness-to-seat connectors (SRS & seat connectors, refer to Figure 2). Then disconnect them from the seat assembly.
7. Place a fender cover over the door sill finisher to protect it from damage, and remove the seat assembly from the vehicle.
8. Place the seat on a clean dry surface (fender cover/floor protectors) and expose the underside of the seat bottom.
9. Remove the seat belt latch assembly (14 mm head) from the seat lift assembly and let it hang loose (refer to Figure 3).
10. Remove the four (4) M8 (12 mm head) bolts that secure the seat bottom to adjuster assy. (refer to Figure 4).
11. Disconnect the power seat slide motor connector and detach the harness from the seat bottom. Mark the place where the harness attaches to the seat bottom with a marker pen for reference during re-assembly (refer to Figure 5).
12. Detach harness side of the power seat slide motor from the seat bottom. Use a flat blade screwdriver from the connector front to remove connector from the clip. Mark the place where the harness attaches to the seat bottom with a marker pen for reference during re-assembly (refer to Figure 6).
13. Disconnect the power seat lift motor(s) connector (refer to Figure 7).
14. Remove the seat adjuster assembly, from the seat bottom, and place on a workbench.
15. Remove outer seat lifter cover from the seat lifter assembly (refer to Figure 8).
16. Remove the rear lift link cover from the lifter assembly (refer to Figure 9).
17. Remove the front and rear seat lift link nuts, noting the washer locations, from the outer seat slide assembly (refer to Figure 10).
18. Remove the seat lifter motor unit from the seat adjuster assembly by removing the two (2) M8 (14 mm head) bolts (refer to Figure 11).
19. Completely loosen the flexible drive cable nut at the inner slide motor assembly (refer to Figure 12).
NOTE:
Do not bend or kink the flexible drive cable. A noise will result.
20. Remove the outer nuts, on the front and rear lift link assemblies (refer to Figure 13), from the inner slide motor assembly (note washer locations).
21. Separate the inner slide assembly from the front and rear lifter/slide assembly. Then remove the plastic piece on the inner slide assembly and install it onto the new slide (refer to Figure 14).
22. Apply 12 volts DC to the new Inner slide motor (see Figure 15} so it slides to the most forward position.
23. Connect the Flexible drive cable to the Inner and Outer side assemblies (see Figure 16).
NOTE:
Do not bend or kink the flexible drive cable. A noise will result.
24. Apply 12 volts DC to the seat slide motor so it moves the Outer slide assembly to the rear most position (see Figure 16).
25. Disconnect the Flexible drive cable.
26. Apply 12 volts DC to the seat slide motor so it moves the Inner slide assembly to the rear most position (see Figure 16).
27. Using Genuine Nissan Silicone grease (P/N 999MP-AB002P), lubricate the front and rear lift link attachment points / 0-rings (see Figure 17).
28. Connect the new inner slide assembly, to the front and rear lift link/slide assembly, while correctly guiding the flexible cable into the slide motor. Tighten the front and rear lift link nuts to 12-17 ft-lb. (16.9-23.5 Nm.).
NOTE:
Do not bend or kink the flexible cable. A noise will result.
29. Tighten the flexible cable nut to the slide motor assembly.
30. Using Genuine Nissan Silicone grease (PIN 999MP-AB002P), lubricate the front and rear lift link wave washers, where the seat lifter motor unit attaches.
31. Reinstall the seat lifter motor unit, into the front/rear links, and into the outer seat slide assembly. Tighten the front and rear lift link nuts (10 mm) to 74.6-95.5 in-lb. (8.4-10.8 Nm.). Tighten the lift motor bolts (M8/14 mm) to 12-17 ft-lb. (16.9-23.5 Nm.).
32. Reinstall the rear lifter link and outer seat slide protective covers.
33. Reinstall the complete seat adjuster assembly to the seat bottom assembly, and torque the (4) 14 mm bolts to 15-20 ft-lb (21-26 Nm).
34. Reinstall the seat belt latch assembly, to the inner slide assembly, and torque the 14 mm bolt to 32-41 ft-lb (43-55 Nm).
35. Properly route and connect the power lift motor and the power slide motor connectors. Refer to the marks you made in steps 12 & 13 to ensure correct hamess routing.
36. Reinstall the complete seat assembly into the vehicle.
WARNING:
Do not damage SRS and power seat wiring on floor of vehicle.
37. Tilt seat assembly back and attach power seat and SRS connectors.
38. Install and torque (4) seat attachment bolts (14 mm) to 32-41 ft-lb (43-55 Nm).
39. Re-connect negative battery cable and test all seat operations for proper operation.
40. For ADP entry/exit feature on driver's seat to return to normal operation: drive the vehicle over 19 mph or insert the key into the ignition key cylinder and manually open and close the drivers door more than 3 times.
41. Reprogram the radio stations.
