TCM Reprogramming and Initialization
1. Perform TCM Reprogramming to install the latest available TCM data.^ If you do not know how to do TCM Reprogramming; Refer to the "TCM Reprogramming" attachment in the non-ASIST in this bulletin.
^ If you do know how to do TCM Reprogramming, proceed to step A;
A) From the ASIST TCM Reprogramming area, pick the model and model year for the car you are working on (see Figure 3).
B) Pick the right type of vehicle from the list just above the word "Summary".
^ If there is only one item listed ("Update for all Models"), go to step C.
^ If there are multiple items, pick the right type of vehicle from the list, then go to step C.
C) Write down the "To" number shown in the Summary box of ASIST.
NOTE:
The "To" number will read something like: 31036-*****. See "TCM Part Numbers" shown.
D) Click the "Continue" button on the TCM Data Reprogramming and follow directions to perform data download from ASIST to CONSULT-II.
2. Perform TCM Reprogramming from CONSULT-II to update the vehicle's TCM data (to the new Part Number).
3. When TCM Reprogramming is done, make sure you perform TCM Initialization (step 4, of the complete "TCM Reprogramming For Infiniti Vehicles" general procedure). Refer to the "TCM Reprogramming" in the non-ASIST in this bulletin.
IMPORTANT:
^ TCM "Initialization" MUST BE DONE or the update will not work.
^ The vehicle must be test driven after "Initialization" to verify the update is complete.
^ If rough shift" or other similar symptoms occur, Initialization did not take place and must be redone.
4. When TCM Initialization is done, go to the Vehicle Update flowchart box titled: "Determine the vehicle's ECM part number (P/N)".
