Submit a Primary Failed Part (PP) line claim using the claims coding table.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Verify the incident.

2. Write down the radio presets for later "reprogramming" back into the radio.

3. For G35 coupe, open both the driver's and passenger's door and leave them open for steps 4 and 5. The windows will automatically drop slightly. This is explained in IT02-055-2003 G35 Coupe Battery Service Precautions.

4. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait 5 minutes.

5. Re-connect the negative battery terminal.

CAUTION:
For G35 coupe, before re-connecting the battery, make sure the doors are open. This will help ensure that nothing will be caught between the window top edge and the roof/weatherstrip area as the windows go up.

6. Determine the need for BCM replacement as follows:

^ If the courtesy lamps still don't work: the BCM is OK and this bulletin does not apply. See the "LT Lighting System" section in the "K Electrical" chapter of the 2003 G35 ESM for more diagnostic information.

^ If the courtesy lamps work now, BCM replacement is required to ensure that the incident is resolved. Replace the BCM with the one listed in the Parts Information section of this bulletin.

IMPORTANT:
Even if the courtesy lamps work now, steps 1 through 5 (above) took care of it only temporarily. There is no way to ensure that the incident is permanently resolved, so replacing the BCM is necessary.

7. "Re-register" all the vehicle keys to the new BCM. This is explained in Nissan Technical Bulletin ITB02-010a

8. "Re-register" all the vehicle remote controls. This is explained in the "BL Body, Lock and Security System" Section in the "I Body" chapter of the G35 ESM.

9. "Re-program" the radio presets you wrote down in step 1.
