Keyless Entry: Description and Operation

System Description

INPUTS

Power is supplied at all times
- to BCM terminal 7
- through 50 A fusible link (letter F located in the fuse and fusible link box).

When the front door switch driver side is ON (door is OPEN) ground is supplied (without navigation system)
- to BCM terminal 14
- through front door switch driver side terminal 1
- to driver door switch case ground.

When the front door switch driver side is ON (door is OPEN) ground is supplied (with navigation system)
- to combination meter terminal 7
- through front door switch driver side terminal 1
- to driver door switch case ground.

Combination meter send door open signal to BCM with CAN communication system.

If CAN communication systems or combination meter is malfunction operation is the same as without navigation system.

When the front door switch passenger side is ON (door is OPEN) ground is supplied (without navigation system)
- to BCM terminal 10
- through front door switch passenger side terminal 1
- to front door switch passenger side case ground.

When the front door switch passenger side is ON (door is OPEN) ground is supplied (with navigation system)
- to combination meter terminal 6
- through front door switch passenger side terminal 1
- to front door switch passenger side case ground.

Combination meter send door open signal to BCM with CAN communication system.

If CAN communication systems or combination meter is malfunction operation is the same as without navigation system.

When the rear door switches are ON (door is OPEN) ground is supplied (without navigation system)
- to BCM terminal 11
- through rear door switches terminal 1
- to rear door switches case grounds.

When the rear door switch LH is ON (door is OPEN) ground is supplied (with navigation system)
- to combination meter terminal 9
- through front door switch LH terminal 1
- to rear door switch LH case ground.

Combination meter send door open signal to BCM with CAN communication system.

When the rear door switch RH is ON (door is OPEN) ground is supplied (with navigation system)
- to combination meter terminal 8
- through rear door switch RH terminal 1
- to front rear door switch RH case ground.

Combination meter send door open signal to BCM with CAN communication system.

Key fob signal is inputted to BCM (the antenna of the system is combined with BCM).

The remote keyless entry system controls operation of the
- power door lock
- trunk lid opener
- fuel lid lock
- auto door lock
- spot lamp
- panic alarm
- hazard and horn reminder
- keyless power window down (open)

OPERATED PROCEDURE

Power Door Lock and Fuel Lid Lock Operation
BCM receives a LOCK signal from key fob. BCM locks all doors and fuel lid with input of LOCK signal from key fob.

When an UNLOCK signal is sent from key fob once drivers door will be unlocked.

Then if an UNLOCK signal is sent from key fob again within 5 seconds all other door and fuel lid will be unlocked.

Hazard Reminder
When the doors are locked or unlocked by key fob supply power to hazard warning lamp flashes as follows
- LOCK operation: C mode (flash twice) or S mode (flash twice)
- UNLOCK operation: C mode (flash once) or S mode (does not flash)

Horn Reminder
BCM output to IPDM E/R for horn reminder signal as DATA LINE (CAN H line and CAN L line). The horn reminder has C mode (horn chirp mode) and S mode (non-horn chirp mode).

Operating function of hazard and horn reminder

How to change hazard and horn reminder mode

With CONSULT-II
Hazard and horn reminder can be changed using "WORK SUPPORT" mode in "MULTI ANSWER BACK SET".

Refer to "CONSULT-II Function".

Without CONSULT-II
When LOCK and UNLOCK signals are sent from the key fob for more than 2 seconds at the same time, the hazard and horn reminder mode is changed and hazard warning lamp flashes and horn sounds as follows:

Auto Door Lock Operation
Auto lock function signal is sent for operation when any of the following signals are not sent within 1 minute after the unlock signal is sent from the key fob:
- when door switch is turned ON for open.
- when the ignition switch is turned ON.
- when the lock signal is sent from the key fob.

Auto door lock mode can be changed using "WORK SUPPORT" mode in "AUTO LOCK SET". Refer to "CONSULT-II Function".

Interior Lamp Operation
When the following input signals are both supplied:
- door switch CLOSED (when all the doors are closed);
- drivers door LOCKED;

Remote keyless entry system turns on interior lamp and ignition illumination (for 30 seconds) with input of UNLOCK signal from key fob.

For detailed description, refer to "SPOT LAMP TIMER OPERATION". Description and Operation

Panic Alarm Operation
When key switch is OFF (when ignition key is not inserted in key cylinder) remote keyless entry system turns on and off horn and headlamp intermittently with input of PANIC ALARM signal from key fob.

The alarm automatically turns off after 25 seconds or when BCM receives any signal from key fob.

For detailed description, refer to "VEHICLE SECURITY (THEFT WARNING) SYSTEM".

Trunk Lid Opener Operation
When a TRUNK OPEN signal is sent with key OFF (ignition key removed from key cylinder) from key fob power is supplied through BCM terminal 19.

When power and ground are supplied trunk lid opener actuator opens trunk lid.

Keyless Power Window Down (open) Operation
When key fob unlock switch is turned ON with ignition switch OFF and the switch is detected to be on continuously for 3 seconds the driver's door and passengers door (with left and right front power window anti-pinch system) power windows are simultaneously opened.

Power window is operated to open and the operation continues as long as the key fob unlock switch is pressed.

CAN Communication System Description
CAN (Controller Area Network) is a serial communication line for real time application. It is an on-vehicle multiplex communication line with high data communication speed and excellent error detection ability. Many electronic control units are equipped onto a vehicle and each control unit shares information and links with other control units during operation (not independent). In CAN communication control units are connected with 2 communication lines (CAN H line CAN L line) allowing a high rate of information transmission with less wiring. Each control unit transmits/receives data but selectively reads required data only.
