Compressor HVAC: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation of CompressorREMOVAL
1. Use a refrigerant collecting equipment (for HFC-134a) to discharge the refrigerant.
2. Remove engine cover. Refer to "INTAKE MANIFOLD COLLECTOR".
3. Remove air duct, air cleaner assembly and air hose. Refer to "AIR CLEANER AND AIR DUCT".
4. Remove front air spoiler.
5. Remove engine under cover, using power tools.
6. Remove mounting nuts from the low-pressure and high-pressure flexible hose.
CAUTION: Cap or wrap the joint of the pipe with suitable material such as vinyl tape to avoid the entry of air.
7. Disconnect compressor (magnet clutch) connector.
8. Remove A/C compressor belt. Refer to "DRIVE BELTS".
9. Disconnect compressor (ECV) connector.
10. Remove mounting bolts from compressor, using power tools.
11. Remove compressor downward of the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
Installation is basically the reverse order of removal.
CAUTION:
- Replace O-ring of low-pressure flexible hose and high-pressure flexible hose with a new one, then apply compressor oil to it when installing it.
- When recharging refrigerant, check for leaks.
