SERVICE INFORMATION
Previously the Accelerator Pedal Bracket and Lever were only available as an assembly.
The Accelerator Pedal Lever (see below) is now available as a separate service part.
NOTE:
If Accelerator Pedal Lever replacement is indicated always remove the Accelerator Pedal Pad from the vehicle first before replacing the Lever. Refer to the REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION section of this bulletin.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
NOTE:
The carpet does not need to be removed for this procedure.
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the accelerator pedal position sensor harness connector.
2. Remove the cap and the inside mounting nut, and then disassemble the accelerator pedal pad from the accelerator pedal bracket.
3a. Press the pins (1) with long-nose pliers and pull them out in the direction shown by the arrows.
3b. Remove the accelerator pedal pad (2).
CAUTION:
Only disengage the pins. Never disengage any parts (such as the link) other than pins.
4. Remove the accelerator pedal lever to accelerator pedal bracket mounting nuts.
5. Remove the accelerator pedal lever.
CAUTION:
^ Never disassemble the accelerator pedal lever. Never remove the accelerator pedal position sensor from the accelerator lever.
^ Avoid impact to the accelerator pedal lever (such as from dropping etc.) during handling.
^ Be careful to keep the accelerator pedal lever away from water.
INSTALLATION
^ Install the accelerator pedal lever in the reverse order of removal.
^ Accelerator pedal lever to accelerator pedal bracket nut torque: 45 in.lb (5.1 Nm 0.52 kg-m)
^ Accelerator pedal pad to accelerator pedal bracket nut torque: 45 in.lb (5.1 Nm 0.52 kg-m)
INSPECTION AFTER INSTALLATION
^ Check that the accelerator pedal moves smoothly within the whole operation range when it is fully depressed and released.
^ Check that the accelerator pedal securely returns to the fully released position.
CAUTION:
Whenever the harness connector of accelerator pedal position sensor has been disconnected perform "Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning". Refer to "Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning" in the EC section of the appropriate ESM.
