DIAGNOSTIC CHART
Code 15 Diagnostic Chart:
NOTE: If both codes 15 and 21 are displayed, go to code 21 chart first.
TEST DESCRIPTION
These steps correspond to the numbered steps on the diagnostic chart:
1. By causing a large air leak, this step will cause dwell to decrease to determine if the problem is still present. Normal reading is a decrease in dwell to about 10°.
2. This step checks whether the fault is the coolant sensor or lack of voltage to the sensor.
3. This step determines whether low voltage at the sensor connector is due to an open circuit or bad terminal contact. Normal voltage is about 5V.
4. This step checks sensor resistance. If the reading is around 1000 ohms with a warm engine, the sensor is okay. Check for connector corrosion or low coolant level.
