1991 CALIF. IMPULSE (JI) AND STYLUS (JS) ECM REPLACEMENT CAMPAIGN

CAMPAIGN IDENTIFICATION NUMBER

Number 91-E-355 has been assigned to this campaign. This number will appear on all communications and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign.

AFFECTED VEHICLES

See the attached VIN list for affected 1991 Impulse (JI) and Stylus (JS) California nonturbocharged models.

SERVICE INFORMATION

On affected vehicles, the "CHECK ENGINE" light illuminates when the engine coolant temperature is below 68 degrees Fahrenheit, due to an incorrect resistor in the Electronic Control Module's (ECM) Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) diagnostic circuit. This causes the ECM to set a false Code 32.

To correct this condition, replace the ECM as described in this Campaign Bulletin.

To qualify for this Campaign, a vehicle must:

^ Be listed in the attached VIN list

^ Have a defective ECM (ECM part number does not match those listed in the "Parts Information" section of this Bulletin)

OWNER NOTIFICATION

All owners of affected vehicles will be notified by letter ftom American Isuzu Motors Inc. (copy enclosed). Each Isuzu dealer will be supplied with a detailed list of affected vehicles originally allotted to that dealership. The list will contain VIN and detailed owner information. If none of the affected vehicles were shipped to a dealership, no list will be sent.

PARTS INFORMATION

Dealers must order the appropriate replacement parts as required, using normal parts ordering procedures.
