Tachometer: Service and Repair

RENEW

Open the bonnet and disconnect the battery earth lead.
Open the car door.
Remove the drivers side dash liner.
Adjust the steering column fully rearward.
Remove the screws securing the instrument panel.
Displace the instrument panel.
Disconnect the multi-plug block connectors.

Fig 1:

Remove the instrument panel from the fascia switch pack (Fig 1)

Fig 2:

Remove the nuts/screws securing the instrument pack to the housing (1 Fig 2).
Remove the instrument pack from the housing.

Fig 3:

Displace the clips retaining the lens and remove the lens (1 Fig 3).

Fig 4:

Displace the clips (1 Fig 4) retaining the legend plate and remove the legend plate (2 Fig 4).
Remove the screws securing the speedometer. Displace the speedometer.

Fig 5:

Carefully disconnect the circuit connect clip (1 Fig 1).
Remove the tachometer (1 Fig 2).

Fitting a new tachometer is the reversal of the removal procedure.
