Front Disc

Removal
1. Remove one road wheel nut and mark the stud to wheel relationship. Remove the remaining nuts and remove the road wheel.

3. Remove the spring clips (1) securing the brake pad retaining pins (2); withdraw the retaining pins.

4. Remove the anti-rattle springs (3) and withdraw the brake pads (4).
5. Break the lock wire (2) and remove the two bolts and spring washers (3) securing the brake caliper and the stub axle carrier.

NOTE: Make a careful record of the shim(s) fitted between the steering arm and the brake caliper.

6. Gently ease the caliper aside and secure with wire or strong cord, to prevent damaging the brake hose.

7. Remove the front hub grease cap (1), extract the split pin (2), remove the hub retaining cap (3), nut and washer (4) from the stub axle.
8. Remove the front hub and disc assembly.
9. Remove the five bolts and spring washers securing the brake disc to the front hub assembly and remove the brake disc.

Installation
1. Install the disc to the hub assembly, secure with five bolts and spring washers, tighten to 11 to 16 NM (8.1 to 11.8 ft lb).

2. Install the hub and disc assembly to the stub axle; adjust the hub bearing end float to 0,03 - 0,08 mm (0.001-0.003 in). This is measured using a dial test indicator gauge, mounted with the plunger against the hub.
3. Tighten the nut until the correct end float is obtained, refit the retainer, split pin and hub cap. If a gauge is not available, the following procedure can be used: Tighten the nut until there is no end float i.e. when the rotation of the hub is slightly restricted.

CAUTION: A torque of 6.7 Nm (5 ft lb) MUST NOT be exceeded or damage may be caused to the bearings and bearing tracks.

4. Loosen the nut one flat and fit the nut retaining cap. Install a new split pin and bend over. Install the grease cap, ensure that the vent hole is clear.
5. Install the caliper to the stub axle carrier; ensure that the correct value of shim(s) are fitted between the brake caliper and the steering arm.
6, Tighten the bolts to 25 to 30 Nm (18.5 to 22.2 ft lb).

7. Lock wire the caliper bolt heads.

8. Install the brake pads (4). the retaining pins (2), and anti-rattle springs (3). Refit the spring clips (1).
9. Install the road wheel to the hub, align the wheel with the marked stud and tighten the wheel nuts to 88 to 102 Nm (65.1 to 75.5 ft lb).
