Differential Cover Gasket



RENEW

Drive the vehicle on to a ramp.

Raise the ramp.

Remove the fourteen nuts, bolts, and setscrews (1, Fig.1) securing the bottom tie-plate to the crossbeam and inner fulcrum brackets. Drain the oil from the final drive into a suitable container.

Remove the two setscrews securing the speed transducer (3, Fig.2) to the rear cover. Remove the speed transducer.

Remove the ten setscrews (1 Fig.2) and remove the rear cover (2 Fig.2), noting the position of the identification tabs.

Clean off the sealant from the rear cover and the hypoid housing. Apply silicon sealant to the cover and housing mating faces.

Refit the rear cover. Fit and torque tighten the cover bolts by diagonal selection. Refit the speed transducer, fit and tighten the two securing setscrews.

Refill the final drive unit with new oil.

Note: The vehicle must be level when checking the oil level.

Refit the bottom tie-plate. Fit and tighten the nuts, bolts and setscrews. Lower the ramp.

Bottom tie-plate bolts 18-24 Nm
